The Aviator is an interesting look into the life of Howard Hughes. This movie really brought his genius and his demons to light and Leonardo DiCaprio played an extremely convincing role. We start this story with his mother washing young Howard in a tub, by this scene I wonder if she is not part of the cause of his extreme OCD (obsessive, compulsive, disorder). The move continues with his first movie Hell’s Angels. Howard bled for this movie, red but mostly green. The movie was quite a feat for the times and in the millions of dollars to make it was the most expensive movie for the times. The movie Hell’s Angels was about Howard’s real love, aviation. Cate Blanchett played a young Katherine Hepburn who offered amazing support and companionship to Howard. Howard returned the favour by stopping a huge scandal involving Katherine and another actor of the time. Noah Dietrich played by John C. Reilly was Howard’s financial right hand, I don’t think he could have achieved what he did without him in his corner. Juan Trippe (Alec Baldwin) was the president and CEO of Pan-Am and Senator Owen Brewster (Alan Alda) were the villains of the movie. They cooked up this story to discredit Howard Hughes, which ended up backfiring in their faces.
Here at the Movie Rental Review I found The Aviator was a great movie and now I have to see Hell’s Angels.
