Movie Rental Review Rating: 9/10

The Notebook is an amazing story of true love and unwavering devotion. The story starts out as an elderly man (James Garner) who reads from worn notebook to an elderly woman (Gena Rowlands) in a nursing home. The notebook talks about two people coming from different worlds, she is from the upper class that is use to the finer things in life and he comes from a humble household where neighbors would gather around the porch in the evening, sing and dance. Many obstacles stood in the way of their future together, WWII, family and social pressures. They were separated for years, their love seemed lost until Noah (Ryan Gosling) fulfilled a promise he had made to Allie (Rachel McAdams), by a slim chance this brought them back together. Would their love hold them together?

James Garner gives a great performance; I could feel his pain and his feeling of helplessness. Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, Gena Rowlands also played very believable roles in this film The Notebook.

Here at the Movie Rental Review I enjoyed The Notebook tremendously. The characters were well developed and “The Notebook” was a very believable story.

What are others saying about this movie?
“The girls will dry their eyes, while the guys will roll theirs. The acting and directing are well-done, but it’s an incredibly predictable, unoriginal and dull yarn that should’ve stayed on the page rather than on the screen.”
- Brian Gallagher

“Boyfriends, don’t be afraid to watch this movie. You won’t be humiliated or expected to do the kinds of things Noah does for Allie. But we can all take something important from this movie: It’s a love story where it’s okay to fight, it’s okay to be from…”
