Movie Rental Review Rating: 2/10

David Callaway (Robert De Niro) is a newly single father left to raise his nine-year-old daughter Emily (Dakota Fanning). Soon David discovers Emily caught in a maze of evil.

HIDE AND SEEK is a bad and very predicable movie. The only thing going for this movie is Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning. Although Robert’s performance is not a shinning light in his career, Dakota played a convincing role of a girl reaching out because of extraordinary circumstances.

The HIDE AND SEEK story starts out with David’s wife (Amy Irving) committed suicide causing him to move their lives to a secluded upstate New York house in the hopes of starting over. Katherine (Famke Janssen) does not want them to go because she is trying to help Emily out of her mental void because of her mother’s suicide. Once Emily arrives in this new home, she becomes very angry and withdrawn, barely speaking. When her father meets a new female friend, Elizabeth (Elisabeth Shue) and is hostile towards her. Emily finds a new friend that is invisible named Charlie. Charlie likes to play games, games like HIDE AND SEEK. The only real twist is finding out, who is Charlie.

Here at the Movie Rental Review we found this to be a disappointment, better luck next time.
