The Warriors is a story about a gang from Coney Island to heads into the other end of New York to attend a meeting of all the gangs in New York. The Warriors are accused of shooting the Gramercy Riff’s leader Cyrus. Masai (Dennis Gregory) the new leader of the Gramercy Riff puts out the word “I want ALL the Warriors! I want them alive, if possible. If not, wasted! But I want them.” Swan (Michael Beck) was made acting war chief after Cyrus is killed and the entire meeting in the Bronx goes bad. Wrongfully accused it is a fight for their very lives to get back to Coney Island. This movie is full of great fight scenes and depicts gang live within the New York area.
There was one scene where Rembrandt (Marcelino Sanchez) spray paints over some real gangs markings on tombstone. This did not sit well with those gangs so the production crew had to hire these gangs as security for the film.
Luther (David Patrick Kelly) plays an excellent psychotic leader of the Rogue who really shot Cyrus. The line I always remember is, “Warriors, come out to play”.
Here at the Movie Rental Review, we enjoy good action and this movie does not fall short.
