Sin City is a twisting story full of rough characters, amazing visual effects. The visuals often left me in awe of what Rodriguez had pulled off. This film was creatively shot in black and white but with the use of color in the most interesting places. Watch for it! The fading between live action and a comic book cartoon format was very well done and seamless. This movie takes me back to the days of old, reading great stories in comic books done all in the black and white, awesome effect. The story starts out with a tough cop Hartigan (Bruce Willis) who is at the end of his career, working in a city where there are more crooked than straight cops. Just before his retirement, he accepts one last case, a case to save an 11-year old girl Nancy, from certain death at the hands of serial murderer and rapist Roarke Jr. (Nick Stahl). The second story is about Marv (Mickey Rourke) who is an ugly heavily built man that finds peace in the arms of a beautiful blonde-haired woman named Goldie (Jamie King). This story takes off when he wakes up in the morning discovering she has been murdered and he is about to take the fall for it. He sets out to avenge her murder that carves murderous path, taking him into the heart of Basin City’s corruption. The third story is about Dwight (Clive Owen), a man who helps the prostitutes in Old Town. Dwight and the prostitutes accidentally kill a crooked cop named Jack Rafferty (Benicio Del Toro) while protecting one of their own Becky (Alexis Bledel). With the death of this crooked cop, it seams the entire balance of Old Town will be upset by bring back the mob and police. The movie wraps around 8 years after the first story ends to Hartigan in his cell, where had been receiving letters from Nancy every week. One day the letters stopped, after a number of weeks there was one final letter that drove him to confess everything, just the way they wanted to hear it. He is released from jail and heads out to find Nancy (Jessica Alba) now 19. This would be his undoing.

The Movie Rental Review found this movie to be an incredible story and along with stunning visual effects and great characters. This is a “must see”, especially if you are a fan of comic books.
