A Lot Like Love is a lite hearted love story where two people’s lives cross paths over a seven year duration. The story starts out when Oliver (Ashton Kutcher) and Emily (Amanda Peet) lock eyes in the Los Angeles airport. They are both bound for New York and during the trip; Emily assists Oliver in joining the mile high club. In New York they spend the day together, at one point Oliver gives Emily the number for his parents where he can be reached after he gets his business established. They part company and we jump ahead three years, Emily was just dumped by her boyfriend and frantically searches for a date on New Year’s Eve. She opens a page in her address book and finds the paper where Oliver wrote his number down. After debating weather, she should call or not she tries the number and speaks with Oliver, asking him out for coffee. When Oliver enters her apartment, the fireworks started going off and they realize that there is still spark. Unfortunately, it takes four more years of encounters and the realization that Emily may lose Oliver to someone else before they commit to each other.
The Movie Rental Review found this movie to be a funny and somewhat silly love story. The story just goes to show that if two people are destine for each other they will remain destine for each other even if they do not see it.
