Batman Begins is taken from the comic book character Batman and add a great background to this famous super hero. The movie starts off with billionaire Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) in an Asian prison. He is already fighting crime by punishing the inmates, as he is one himself. Bruce has constant flashbacks to his parents being murdered and most of all his extreme fear of bats. While in prison, he is approached by Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson) and offers Bruce a chance to fight crime. The test to enter Ducard’s training is almost like the Kung Fu test “When you can snatch the pebble form my hand…”. Bruce succeeds the challenge, enters the camp to become a lethal fighting machine. Ducard’s is the head of an organization to fight crime called “The League of Shadows”, and when Bruce does not agree with their methods he must destroy their training camp. He saves Ducard as he does not believe that he is the leader of the order, this mistake will come back to haunt him. Once back in Gotham City Alfred (Michael Caine) aids him in his quest to fight crime as he always done and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) an ingenious inventor who really reminded me of James Bond’s Q. Other good people in the story were cop who was not the commissioner yet, Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and a childhood friend who became an assistant DA Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes). Great bad guys too, the city’s crime boss Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson) and a twisted psychiatrist who is The Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy). The story was great.

The Movie Rental Review found this movie to be great addition to the Batman story. Great action, sets, cinematography and characters really made this movie.

I had been long anticipating this movie after being a little less than satisfied with the previous batman movies. no previous batman film has been very memorable. while entertaining, they seemed more like that of a child’s view of batman. batman begins bring the previous movies to shame. christian bale is cast perfectly as batman, and the movie shows a more in depth look at batman’s past before he ever wore the suit, and more importantly why he decides to become batman. the film is intelligent and well worth seeing several times over.
